DVFL Open Women Finalist
This was basically a last-minute formed team. This team played together only two games 1 week before this tournament. A mixture of very young and very experienced players that showed to coach Ricardo Da Silva the desire to play at the National Tournament. One young player from Brazil, other players that brought their college soccer and DVFL futsal experience to the site such as Krystal Moreno, Melissa Schmitt, Gleiziani. Some new faces that were willing to expand their futsal experience to the National level joinded the team. It was great to count with the experience of Marcia Tafarel (Tafa) and Duda - both had played for the Women Brazilian National Soccer Team and Tafa has coached and played futsal since the 80's in Brazil. Tafa joined DVFL as a player, coach, and ref since 2009 and during this National, she was also one of the main referees for the tournament.

What is great about this picture is the fact that it shows players that have started futsal with DVFL very early in their lives - as U8 - U10 - and were now being called to represent DVFL as U19 Boys, U16 Boys. Coach Elisama Padilla has witnessed his three children's development in soccer with DVFL futsal and his older son is - Eli - continues to be a player for the DVFL squad and a great success at the San Jose Earthquakes Academy where he is now playing for the Pro Team Reserves.
Players from different clubs around the Bay Area, from U12 up to U19, representing DVFL Futsal at National Tournament and being coached by Ricardo Da Silva and also Rodrigo Da Silva who was also an inspiration, as a futsal player for Open Mean Team for many of those kids that during the tournament were running from their games to watch and cheer for coach Rodrigo.

 Great US Futsal Nationals Results!

U13 Girls - DV Godzilla - 3rd place!
U16 Girls - DV Misfits - 3rd place!
U15 Boys - DV Diablos - Champions!
U16 Boys - DV Inter - Champions!

DV Godzilla is the team that played the U14 Girls group in the Diablo Valley Futsal league and was champion winning every single game in the league. They went to Regionals in April 2011 and got the title for the second year in a row (in 2010, they got their first tile in the U12 bracket)!
Nationals 2011 was then their big test and as a U13 team, the girls stepped up nicely in a U14 fligth to end up in 3rd place. The core of this team play in the same soccer team for DFC and little by little they are enhancing their futsal strategy!
DV Misfits is a mix of U16 Girls that play in different clubs but most of the girls have been playing futsal since their young age! The core of this group was the champion of the Diablo Valley Futsal League for the High-School Girls age group.
Their hard work was worth it! They committed to practices with Ricardo and Rodrigo Da Silva and learned some nice futsal strategies and movements which helped them, even with not too much practicing time, to get a nice third place. Their last game showed that if this group would have more time practicing futsal, they would, for sure, get their hands on the first-place trophey!
Congrats girls for the hard work and thanks to the parents for their commitment!
The U15 Boys DV Diablos has been working together for at least 2 years when last year they were finalist in the Futsal Nationals in Long Beach and lost the title in penalty kicks!
They were ready since then and this year they proved it by showing the real futsal game and a great sense of unity in and outside the field! Beyond that, this team had to play in a U16 flight and came out in first place winning all the 3 games of the first round. Well, they sure would deserve to go to the final match of the U16 group but the rules of the tournament had them decide the title in their own age group against BNC Bethesda Revolution and after some very intense minutes holding a 1 x 1 score, the team started to find the way to the net with less than 7 minutes to finish the match with a 4 x 1 win.
The celebration had to wait a little as the U16 team - DV Inter - was ready to start their final game against the U16 team New England Futsal that came in second place from the DV Diablos (U15) flight. The U16 team has a core of players that play for the Earthquakes Academy and some of these players have also played in previous futsal Nationals but this Nationals was the first one this team came together and paying attention to Ricardo & Rodrigo's orientation, this team stepped up in every single game during the tournament to simply shine in the championship game finishing up, a very tough game, with the 4 x 1 score - the same score that took the other team of our league to be the champions!
It was a great weekend and the league would like to congratulate the players, the parents who committed their time and trusted the DVFL staff to coach their kids!
